The federal government, under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, has come under fire over the distribution of N5 billion fuel subsidy removal palliatives to states.
Popular Human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, described the development as diversionary and wasteful.
Falana disclosed this on Friday during an interview on Channels Television.
The ace lawyer said Tinubu should address the root cause: the dollarization of the country’s economy.
He lamented that the Central Bank of Nigeria was wrong to have floated the Naira at the foreign market.
“Most of the interventions are temporary, sometimes diversionary, because the major problem is the dollarisation of the economy”, he stated.
Recall that Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State disclosed that N5 billion had been released to the 36 States and Federal Capital Territory at the end of Thursday’s National Economic Council meeting.
