In a significant breakthrough, the police have successfully arrested three individuals suspected of involvement in armed robbery in Ringim local government, Jigawa State. The arrest was confirmed by DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the spokesperson for the Jigawa State Police Command, in an official statement provided to DAILY POST on Monday.
According to the statement, the Ringim division of the police received a distress call on Saturday, reporting that a group of unidentified armed men, numbering about four, had unlawfully entered a residence in Kakikankare village, Ringim local government. The intruders made off with a green Golf 3 wagon vehicle bearing registration number RNG 691 AA Jigawa State. The stolen vehicle was valued at N1.8 million.
Additionally, the robbers took (2) Tecno mobile phones, an ATM card, a Voter card, a National I.D card, a Customs duty document, and a Vigilante I.D. card during the incident.
DSP Shiisu explained that upon receiving the information, the detectives from the Ringim Division swiftly launched an operation, resulting in the apprehension of three suspects on Sunday, October 1st. The arrested individuals were identified as Yakubu Adamu, Hamisu Adamu, and Abubakar Sani, all residents of Narewa village in Ringim LGA.
Further investigation led to the recovery of a Beretta pistol and four rounds of ammunition in the possession of the suspects. During interrogations, the individuals confessed to their involvement in the robbery, revealing that the stolen vehicle had already been sold in Maradi City, Niger Republic.
DSP Shiisu assured that efforts were underway to apprehend the remaining suspects and recover the stolen vehicle. The police’s swift action in this case underscores their commitment to maintaining law and order in the region.
