Three killed as gunmen attack Benue community

In a fresh attack by gunmen in The Ngban village in Guma Local Government Area of Benue state, three people have been reportedly killed.

The incident which left villagers desert their homes took place on Sunday night.

A local identified as Abel in an interview with Daily Trust said the gunmen attacked around 7pm.

According to him: “A woman was killed on the spot while the two others died shortly after the attack from the injuries inflicted on them by the armed assailants.”

The police spokesperson in the state, SP Catherine Anene also confirmed the incident.

She said three people were killed in the Sunday night attack.

She further stated that the corpses of the deceaseds have been transferred to the Benue State University Teaching hospital (BSUTH).

According to her: “Three persons were killed in an attack at Guma, corpses have been removed to BSUTH while an investigation is ongoing.”

According to reports, the gunmen had on Saturday blocked the Daudu-Lafia highway near the NYSC farm at Uda Yagba inflicting injuries on passersby.
