Three killed as gunmen kidnap national hydro boss in Kogi

Gunmen have abducted a member of the Governing Council of the Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC), Alhaji Isah Ozi-Salami, in Okene, Kogi State.

Ozi-Salami was on his way to the mosque, to observe the early morning prayer when he was whisked away.

The mosque is about a stone throw from his Ogaminana residence in Adavi Local Government.

A witness, who was on his way to the same mosque, was killed for attempting to raise the alarm to the abduction of Ozi-Salami.

He was reportedly taken away in a Golf Volkswagen car brought by his abductors.

Kogi Police spokesman, William Aya confirmed the incident.

Aya, a Superintendent of Police (SP), said that the Police Commissioner has ordered that security be beefed up in the area.

On Wednesday, gunmen killed two men in the area.

One of them, Patrick Ogunleye, was said to have been killed in front of the Federal College of Education Okene around 10pm on Wednesday.

Another victim was said to have been killed elsewhere on the same day.
