TikToker, Suleiman Yakubu arrested for inciting violence ahead of nationwide protest
The Plateau State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a TikToker, Suleiman Yakubu, for allegedly threatening to unleash violence on security operatives during an upcoming nationwide protest.
The command reported that in a viral video clip, the suspect was heard inciting the public to attack security operatives in the state. According to the police, the young man, who operates under the TikTok account “Dam-Mallam68,” also urged potential protesters to burn down critical state and private infrastructure in Plateau State as part of the planned protest on August 1.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the spokesperson for the command, DSP Alfred Alabo, stated that the suspect, a resident of Jos North, was apprehended at Ahmadu Bello Way, Jos, thanks to a reliable informant. While in custody, the suspect confessed to being the individual in the viral video.
The Commissioner of Police emphasized that the police would strongly resist any attempts by troublemakers to create chaos in the state. He stressed the importance of maintaining peace before, during, and after the protest.
The Plateau State Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, also urged the people of Plateau State to abide by the law and refrain from making inflammatory comments that could jeopardize peace and security in the state.
