Timileyin Ajayi, the suspected killer of Salome Adaidu, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, has pleaded not guilty to the charge of culpable homicide.
Ajayi was arraigned on Monday before Justice Simon Aboki at the High Court of Justice, Lafia. He faces a single count of culpable homicide punishable by death, under Section 221 of the Penal Code of Northern Nigeria.
The suspect was reportedly found in possession of Adaidu’s severed head. While he had previously confessed to the crime, claiming he killed her upon discovering she was unfaithful, he entered a not-guilty plea during the arraignment.
The court proceedings are ongoing as the case unfolds.
