Tinubu announces immediate dismissal of Irukera, Okoh as FCCPC, BPE CEOs

President Bola Tinubu has relieved the Chief Executive Officers of two federal government agencies of their duties. In an official statement released on Monday by his spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu has granted the prompt dismissal of Babatunde Irukera, who served as the EVC/CEO of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC). Additionally, Alexander Ayoola Okoh, the Director-General/CEO of the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), has also been dismissed by the President.

These directives take immediate effect and are part of a strategic plan to restructure and reposition crucial agencies within the Federal Government. The outgoing Chief Executives are instructed to hand over their responsibilities to the next most senior officer in their respective agencies, pending the appointment of new Chief Executive Officers.

The statement elucidates, “In alignment with plans to revamp and realign vital agencies of the Federal Government, aimed at safeguarding the rights of Nigerian consumers and fostering stronger contributions to the nation’s economy by key growth-oriented institutions, President Bola Tinubu has removed the following Chief Executive Officers:

  1. Mr. Babatunde Irukera — EVC/CEO, Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC)
  2. Mr. Alexander Ayoola Okoh — Director-General/CEO, Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE)

“The two ousted Chief Executives are directed to facilitate a smooth handover to the next most senior officer in their respective agencies, pending the appointment of new Chief Executive Officers.

“By this Presidential directive, their removal from office is effective immediately.”
