This was disclosed in a statement on Monday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President (Information & Strategy).

In addition, President Tinubu approved the appointment of key officers for the university, including Prof. Qurix Williams Barnabas as Vice Chancellor, Sanusi Gambo Adamu as Registrar, Ibrahim Dalhat as Bursar, and Prof. Daniel Abubakar as University Librarian.

Other members appointed to the university’s Governing Council include Mr. Thomas Etuh (North Central), Chief Fabian Nwaora (South East), Prof. Femi Taiwo (South West), and Zarah Bukar (North East).

According to the statement, the appointees were selected based on their distinguished careers, leadership experience, and commitment to advancing education in Nigeria.

President Tinubu urged them to leverage their expertise to position the university as a center of academic excellence and research, aligning with his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He also tasked the newly appointed officers with providing visionary leadership and laying a solid foundation for the university as it prepares to admit its first set of students in September 2025.

The Federal University of Applied Sciences, formerly known as Nok University, was renamed following the federal government’s acquisition of its assets.
