Tinubu approves ₦150,000 grant for MSMEs in Jigawa

President Bola Tinubu has authorized a ₦150,000 grant for each business owner in Jigawa State. This initiative aims to strengthen the local economy and support micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The announcement was made in a press release from the State House in Abuja and was shared by Vice President Kashim Shettima on his official X handle on Tuesday.

Shettima, speaking at the launch of the AI Expertise Blockchain and Technology Training and Outsourcing Initiative in Dutse, emphasized that the grant is part of Nigeria’s broader strategy for digital transformation and technological leadership in Africa. He stated that Nigeria is not only keeping up with global advancements but is also poised to exceed them in economic and technological progress.

Earlier, Shettima inaugurated the 4th edition of the Expanded National MSMEs Clinic. He revealed that President Tinubu ordered the grant distribution to provide substantial support to business owners in Jigawa State.

According to the Vice President, the ₦150,000 grant is a non-repayable grant. Naija News reports that the grant was approved on the same day that both the Senate and the House of Representatives expedited the passage of the National Minimum Wage Act 2019 (Amendment Bill), which increased the national minimum wage from ₦30,000 to ₦70,000.
