Tinubu approves construction of 600-capacity hostels for Abuja Law School
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the construction of new hostels to ease accommodation challenges at the Abuja campus of the Nigerian Law School.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the FCT Minister, Tinubu directed Nyesom Wike to immediately commence the projects.
The plan includes two hostels — one male and one female — each with a capacity of 300 students.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to immediately commence the construction of two hostels of 300 capacity each for the Nigerian Law School, Abuja,” the statement read.
The presidency said the initiative was designed to tackle longstanding accommodation shortages faced by law school students.
In addition, Tinubu also approved the construction of a road linking the Body of Benchers Secretariat in Jabi District with Nile University, expected to ease traffic congestion on the road leading to the EFCC headquarters.
This comes after earlier interventions by the FCT administration. In December 2024, Wike had launched the design and construction of an annexe office for the Body of Benchers and flagged off the building of 10 staff bungalows, alongside donations of vehicles to the law school. He had also pledged to include hostel projects in the FCT’s 2025 budget.
The new projects will be executed under emergency consideration, the statement added.
