President Bola Tinubu has removed Bashir Gwandu from his position as the executive vice-chairman and chief executive officer of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI).
In his place, the President has appointed 32-year-old Khalil Suleiman Halilu (pictured).
This development was communicated by Ajuri Ngelale, the special adviser to the President on media and publicity, in a statement released on Friday.
The statement reads, “Khalil Suleiman Halilu will serve an initial five-year term, as per the provisions of the NASENI Act, 2014. Mr. Halilu, at 32 years old, brings significant experience as an innovator and technology expert to this vital national role.
“The tenure of Dr. Bashir Gwandu as EVC/CEO of NASENI has been terminated, effective immediately, as directed by the President.”
Halilu is a tech innovator renowned for founding and investing in various startups, including Zabe, an election monitoring application, and The CANs, an eco-friendly technological hub.
