Tinubu govt moves to stop NLC nationwide strike

In a race against time to avert the nationwide strike planned from October 3, the Federal Government has hastily summoned an emergency meeting with the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC).

It was gathered that the crucial meeting is scheduled to take place later this evening at the Aso Villa, specifically in the Conference Room of the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President.

Initially planned for 12 noon today, the government rescheduled the meeting to the evening to allow Organised Labour to reach out to their leaders outside of Abuja.

Sources reveal that both the NLC and its TUC counterpart received the government’s invitation this morning through the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
