The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has announced that President Bola Tinubu has instructed him to meet the needs of Abuja residents.
IDOMA VOICE reports that Wike made this statement on Wednesday during the launch of the rehabilitation of the 10-kilometer Aguma Palace-Radio Nigeria-New Market Road in the Gwagwalada Area Council.
Wike noted that the road was selected for rehabilitation during an interactive town hall meeting between the FCT Administration and the area councils.
He emphasized that the era of neglecting projects is over and reaffirmed the FCTA’s commitment to positively impacting the FCT area councils.
“I want to reiterate that Mr. President has directed us to provide whatever you ask for. Today, by the grace of God, one of your special requests—the reconstruction of this crucial road segment—is being addressed,” he stated.
“This is not the time for contracts to be awarded and then abandoned. This contract has been awarded and flagged off today, and it will be commissioned next year.
“I want to emphasize that Mr. President did not appoint the Hon. Minister of State and myself to oversee land sales. We are here to provide you with roads, ensure access to water, and enhance your quality of life.
“This is what we mean by government—a government for the people, a government of the people, and a government by the people.”
