The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, made a significant statement on Thursday by recognizing President Bola Tinubu as not just the president of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) but as a leader of Nigeria.
Wike, the former Governor of Rivers State, conveyed this sentiment during a visit by APC leaders from his state, led by the National Vice Chairman of APC, South-South, Mr. Victor Giadom, in Abuja.
He acknowledged that while President Tinubu holds the highest office in the APC, he also bears the responsibility of leading the entire nation. Wike further emphasized that it was within the President’s rights to prioritize the interests of his political party while managing the affairs of the country.
Wike conveyed that political parties serve as vehicles that carry individuals to their desired destinations, but it is crucial to remember that the well-being of the Nigerian people surpasses all other concerns in the mind of President Tinubu.
In his own words, Wike stated, “Mr. President, having emerged, is not a president of APC but a president of Nigeria. While the president is governing the country, he must also consider the interests of his political party. Nobody can stop that; it is natural.”
