President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Ayodeji Gbeleyi as the Director General of the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE).
Presidential spokesperson Ajuri Ngelale announced this in a statement on Saturday.
Gbeleyi is a renowned financial expert and award-winning chartered accountant with over 30 years of post-qualification experience across various sectors, including manufacturing, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), investment and commercial banking, project finance, telecommunications, infrastructure, and public administration.
Previously, Gbeleyi served as the board chairman of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) and as the Commissioner of Finance in Lagos State from 2013 to 2015.
President Tinubu has called on Gbeleyi to utilize his extensive experience and expertise to strengthen the BPE, positioning it as a national resource center for capacity building and reform sustainability. He is tasked with promoting a competitive private sector-driven economy, ensuring social accountability and efficient use of public resources, and advancing effective corporate governance and fiduciary discipline in both public and private sectors.
This announcement follows the recent dismissal of Mamman Ahmadu as the Director General of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) by President Tinubu.
