President Bola Tinubu has officially appointed a fresh board for the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), effective immediately. The announcement came through a statement released on Friday by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale.
The newly appointed board members are accomplished professionals boasting extensive experience within the insurance industry.
The board is headed by Ms. Halima Kyari as Chairperson, Mr. Olusegun Ayo Omosehin as Commissioner for Insurance, Mr. Olawoye Gam-Ikon as Deputy Commissioner for Technical Operations, and Dr. Usman Ankara Jimada as Deputy Commissioner for Finance & Administration.
Completing the ensemble are other distinguished members, including Dr. Miriam Kene Kachikwu, Mr. Adeniyi Olusegun Fabikun, and Mr. Umar Khalifa Mohammed.
In his directive, the President has tasked the new board with maintaining the highest levels of integrity and transparency while steering the commission. He underscored the imperative of fostering a secure, robust, and trustworthy insurance sector, prioritizing the safeguarding of policyholders and the public interest.
This appointment marks a significant stride in the President’s commitment to revamping and fortifying the nation’s insurance regulatory framework.
