Muslim-muslim ticket could trigger religious crisis — Ayodele Warns Tinubu

Primate Elijah Ayodele, leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has cautioned President Bola Tinubu over the All Progressives Congress’ Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket.

Ayodele warned that the same-faith ticket could heighten religious tension and trigger a crisis if the government fails to handle it carefully.

The cleric issued the warning on Tuesday through a statement from his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin.

He said some Nigerians were already dissatisfied with the situation. He warned that tensions could escalate if the government fails to address their concerns.

Ayodele also said the issue could spread beyond the presidency to states adopting a similar political arrangement.

He urged Tinubu and his team to exercise wisdom and prevent religious tension from spreading across the country.

“Tinubu must be cautious because the Muslim-Muslim ticket could create religious tension. There could be trouble if the matter is not handled properly,” Ayodele said.

He also predicted a difficult political contest for Tinubu in several states during the next election.

According to Ayodele, the president should not assume that he will easily secure support in Lagos and other parts of the South-West.

“Lagos will not be a simple contest. Tinubu must work hard because the election will be tough,” he said.

Ayodele listed Oyo, Osun, Kaduna, Kano, Sokoto, Niger, Bayelsa, Imo, Enugu, Delta, Benue and the Federal Capital Territory among areas where Tinubu needs to strengthen his political efforts.

He urged the president to address issues that could affect his support in those areas and prepare adequately for the election.
