Today, June 21, 2022 on update on Bola Tinubu, IDOMA VOICE looks at the latest activities, news on the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

This segment highlights some of his activities, commentaries and opinions on the APC presidential candidate.

1. Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, last night, cleared the air about the status of his choice running mate, a former National Welfare Secretary of the APC, Kabiru Ibrahim Masari, whom he insisted was duly nominated, but could choose to step down within stipulated time, and would not have breached any known laws, rules or regulations.

Tinubu, who maintained that Masari remained his choice as running mate and also denied sending his name in as a place holder, however, said consultations with President Muhammadu Buhari and other stakeholders of the ruling APC were still ongoing.

2. Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has mocked his opponents over their delay to produce their “permanent” running mates within the time-frame stipulated by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

In a statement, Atiku said the office of the presidency does not need someone who hesitate to make decision in picking his running mate.

3. The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, in a statement, urged Tinubu to learn from MKO Abiola’s political achievements and mistakes.
The Vice Chairman, North East Zonal Chapter of CAN, Rev (Dr) Innocent Solomon, the apex Christian body, noted that Abiola was a successful grassroots politician who won in 1993, the presidential election adjudged to be the most credible in Nigeria’s history.

4. Tinubu has said he resorted to prayers when he knew there was a gang-up against his presidential bid.
According to Tinubu: “There is no Lagos indigene that has had the opportunity to become President of Nigeria, despite the contribution of the state to national stability and progress.

5. The 14th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi ll, has denied a viral statement attributed to him on social media, endorsing the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi.
The post, which has been shared on different social media platforms, claimed Sanusi chided presidential candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
6. A Tax Administrator; Mr. Fuad Kayode Laguda (FKL) has appealed to Nigerians to elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as president in the 2023 general election.
Laguda hailed Tinubu for his doggedness and tenacious zeal in transforming Lagos state.

7. The chief servant of Salem Evangelical Church of Christ, Lagos, Apostle Babatunde Odele (Pawpaw), has urged APC presidential flag bearer, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, not to listen to people pointing at tribe and religion in choosing his running mate but rather consider someone who shares his ideology.

Odele, two-time local government chairman in Mushin and Ifako-Ijaye under the late governor Michael Otedola and Bola Tinubu respectively, who addressed the press at the church premises in Lagos, recounted how former military president, Gen.Ibrahim Babangida, pressured him into maintaining peace in Mushin during the 1993 general election.

8. The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Adamu, said on Monday the ruling party had not flouted any laws in naming Kabiru Masari as running mate to its presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Reacting to fears that the supposed placeholder may be unwilling to step down when the original candidate emerges, Adamu said the APC preferred to stay positive.

9. The Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Alhassan Ado-Doguwa, has called on his constituents to vote for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and other candidates of the ruling party in the 2023 general election.
Ado-Doguwa also sought votes for himself to continue to represent the Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency; the governorship candidate of the APC in Kano State, Nasir Gawuna; the lawmaker representing the Kano South Senatorial District, Senator Kabiru Gaya; and other candidates of the party.
