Today, Wednesday, July 13, 2022 on update on Bola Tinubu, IDOMA VOICE looks at the latest activities, news on the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

1. Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has taken a dig at opposition parties participating in the forthcoming Osun governorship election.
The former governor of Lagos, who spoke at the Osun APC mega rally on Tuesday, described the PDP and LP as “mushroom parties”.

2. Members of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 19 northern states yesterday revolted against the party’s Muslim-Muslim ticket for the 2023 presidential election.

Christians of Northern extraction in the APC said they can no longer campaign for the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu because of his choice of a Muslim running mate.

3. A former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, has described as “disastrous error” the choice by the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the 2023 election, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, of Kashim Shettima as his running mate.

According to him, although Tinubu remained “a very good man”, great listener, humble and “very generous in both cash and kind, especially where it could advance his political interests”, he had realised that it had been in the nature of power that “sycophants and lapdogs have the most influence on leaders with such character traits.”

4. Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, yesterday, urged the Yoruba people to see the aspiration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, as their priority to enable him actualise his dream of becoming Nigeria’s president in 2023.

The governors, who had met Buhari, first to celebrate the Eid-el-Kabir with him and also register their displeasure with Tinubu over the manner he announced Shettima, a former governor of Borno State, as his partner, however, lamented to the president that they would have wanted one of them asa sitting governor to pair with Tinubu.

5. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has not done anything unlawful by picking Senator Kashim Shettima as his running mate.

Babatunde Ogala, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), said this while responding to the controversy over Tinubu’s choice of the former Borno State governor.

6. The All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, is believed to stand a better chance of winning in 2023 due to the failure of opposition political parties to unite and form a common front.

Abuja-based socio-political commentator, Deji Adeyanju, said such would lead to Tinubu’s victory in the 2023 presidential election.

7. The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has dispelled reports that its presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has endorsed Bola Tinubu for the 2023 elections.
The Campaign Organisation of Kwankwaso, in statement, yesterday, stated that Kwankwaso was still in the race and had no reason or intention to step down for anyone as he has continued to enjoy widespread support from a vast majority of Nigerians.

8. Former House of Representatives member, Oyetunde Ojo and convener of Southwest Agenda for Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu (SWAGA), has said remains the Tinubu best candidate to solve Nigeria’s problems.

Ojo the chances of the ruling party to retain power and the challenges bedeviling the country are high.

9. The Yobe State Governor, Mai Buni, has congratulated the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, for the choice of Senator Kashim Shettima, whom he described as a worthy candidate.

The governor, who was the former Chairman of the APC Caretaker Committee, described the Tinubu-Shettima ticket as a victory ticket for the party.

10. A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, has described as futile the candidacy of the Labour Party’s flagbearer, and his running mate in the 2023 presidential election, Peter Obi and Datti Baba-Ahmed, respectively.

Adegboruwa, in a statement on Tuesday, titled, “The Futility of Obi/Baba-Ahmed Ticket,” said the duo lacked a legitimate party or structure but leveraged on their financial prowess to buy the platform meant for genuine working-class representatives.
