Tinubu to Depart Nigeria for Saudi Arabia on Sunday
President Bola Tinubu will depart Nigeria on Sunday for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to attend the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit focused on the Middle East’s current situation.
The trip was announced by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga on Saturday, noting that the summit will begin on Monday, November 11, 2024.
According to the statement, “The summit is held at the invitation of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, following last year’s summit in the same Saudi city.”
During the event, President Tinubu is expected to address the ongoing Israel-Palestinian conflict, emphasizing Nigeria’s call for an immediate ceasefire and a peaceful resolution. He will also advocate for renewed efforts to support a two-state solution as a path to lasting peace in the region.
Joining the President’s entourage are National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, Minister of Information and National Orientation Alhaji Mohammed Idris, and Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.
