A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former spokesman for Atiku Abubakar, Segun Sowunmi, has attributed the party’s challenges to President Bola Tinubu’s actions.
Sowunmi criticized Tinubu for appointing Nyesom Wike as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) without consulting PDP elders, describing the move as detrimental to the party’s stability.
Speaking on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Sowunmi argued that the PDP would regain its footing if Tinubu were to sack Wike, thereby prompting his return to the party.
He said:
“President Tinubu is the problem of the PDP. He has no business taking Wike from our party and appointing him as Minister without consulting us.
“When Obasanjo wanted to form a government of national unity, he wrote to the elders of the party. But what did Tinubu do? He took one of us, placed him in a strategic position, and now everything is complicated.
“If he wants things to be okay, he should sack Wike, return him to PDP, and watch the party regain stamina and momentum.
“My position is very clear; I’m not speaking Greek. I explained it and justified it.”
