Tinubu’s certificate controversy: Again, Labour Party bombs Peter Obi
Abayomi Arabambi, a factional National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party (LP), has cautioned Peter Obi, the presidential candidate in the 2023 election, against criticizing President Bola Tinubu regarding his Chicago State University (CSU) Diploma certificate. This follows the controversy surrounding the release of Tinubu’s academic records and allegations of forged certificates submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Arabambi defended Tinubu and urged Obi to refrain from taunting Tinubu over the CSU’s academic records. He advised Obi to let the Supreme Court of Nigeria adjudicate and resolve the matter, stating that resorting to self-help would be inappropriate in light of the pending appeal at the Apex Court.
The factional spokesperson criticized Obi’s claims that all Nigerians were being treated like common criminals worldwide over Tinubu’s certificate issue, considering it an unsubstantiated claim.
Arabambi revealed discrepancies in Peter Obi’s academic certificates, alleging differences in the names presented on his University of Nigeria, Nsukka certificate, NYSC certificate, and WAEC certificate. He emphasized the need for Obi to adhere to the law and avoid actions or statements that could incite disaffection in the country.
Arabambi denied being sponsored by the Presidency to oppose Obi, asserting that the Labour Party’s objective is for Obi to follow legal procedures in pursuing the petition against Tinubu.
