Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the federal lawmaker representing Akoko North-East/North-West Federal Constituency of Ondo State in the House of Representatives, has officially resigned from his position in the National Assembly. Tunji-Ojo’s resignation comes in preparation for his upcoming role as the Minister of Interior in President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
The resignation was conveyed through a letter addressed to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas.
The letter, a copy of which was made available to newsmen, confirms that Tunji-Ojo’s decision to resign was prompted by his appointment as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
In the letter, Tunji-Ojo expressed his recognition of the crucial need for experts and technocrats to contribute their skills to the nation’s advancement and economic development, particularly during this period. He expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for considering him suitable to serve the country in his new ministerial role.
Tunji-Ojo, also known as BTO within political circles, is part of the group of 48 ministers chosen by President Tinubu. The swearing-in ceremony for these ministers is scheduled to take place in Abuja on Monday.
Tunji-Ojo’s move from his legislative position to a ministerial role highlights the rotation of individuals with specific expertise and backgrounds to serve in key government positions, contributing to the administration’s goals and agenda.
