Prominent Nigerians on Wednesday stormed Tarka LGA of Benue State to celebrate with the Secreterary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, on the occasion of his 70th birthday celebration.
The event was attended by prominent Nigerians such as First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, All Progressives Congress, APC, National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, who was accompanied by Dr Peter Adejoh of the Peter Adejoh Foundation and other members of the ruling party.
Others included Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ben Kalu, Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, immediate past SGF, Boss Mustapha, and several others from both private and public sectors.
Speaking at the event, the First Lady of Nigeria, Mrs Oluremi Tinubu, described Akume as a friend and a great statesman, who has contributed immensely to the growth and development of the nation.
She prayed God to continue to strengthen Akume.
Speaking on behalf of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, Gov Dapo Aboidun of Ogun State lauded Akume for dedicating his life to serving the nation.
He said Akume has spent the last five decades of his life serving the nation.
Chairman of the planning committee, Arc Sonny Echono described Akume as detribalize Nigerian who has brought honour the state as the first person to be appointed as SGF from north central.
Benue State Govenror, Hyacinth Alia, who was the Chief Host, said Akume has continued to support the state despite his busy hands at the national level.
Dignatries at the event donated several millions of naira for the building of St. Christopher Parish, Wannune, Tarka LGA.
