Gian Piero Ventrone, Tottenham’s fitness coach, passed away at age 61 from leukaemia.
Due to his rigorous workout regimen, Ventrone earned the moniker “The Marine” and joined the Spurs in 2021 as a member of Antonio Conte’s coaching staff. Prior to this, he worked for AC Ajaccio, JS Suning, GZ Evergrande, Juventus, Catania, and Catania.
Spurs put out a statement that read: “As loveable off the pitch as he was demanding on it, Gian Piero quickly became a hugely popular figure with players and staff. He will be greatly missed by everyone at the club and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this impossibly sad time.”
The club has decided to postpone Conte’s press conference before their match against Brighton on Saturday. At 3 PM on Sunday, a funeral will be held in his honour.
