A partially constructed storey-building in Osun State’s Eweta area of Ikirun tragically collapsed, resulting in the loss of two lives. The incident took place on a Wednesday evening, with the victims succumbing to their injuries and passing away the following Thursday.
The unfortunate incident transpired while the building was still under construction, and it was also serving as a church at the time. It was revealed that those who lost their lives were among the individuals working inside the structure when it abruptly collapsed.
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps spokesperson for the Osun State Command, Kehinde Adeleke, confirmed the incident. He noted that the collapse happened at about 6:45 pm on Wednesday, impacting a church building in the Eweta community in Ikirun.
A total of four people were initially trapped under the debris but were subsequently rescued and transported to a nearby hospital. The group consisted of three women and one man. Tragically, by the following Thursday morning, two of the victims had lost their lives. Notably, one of the deceased individuals was the owner of the building.
