Trace Awards 2023: Rema beats Burna Boy, Davido to win song of the year

Popular Nigerian rapper, singer, and songwriter, Divine Ikubor, widely recognized as Rema, achieved a remarkable feat by outshining his esteemed peers in the music industry, Burna Boy and Davido, to secure the Song of the Year award at the recently concluded 2023 Trace Awards.

This prestigious event, which took place in Kigali, Rwanda on Saturday, attracted musicians, artists, devoted fans, and industry stakeholders from various corners of the music world.

Renowned for his chart-topping track “Calm Down,” Rema also seized the title of Best Global Africa Artist of the Year. In a category that featured heavyweights such as Burna Boy, Davido, and Wizkid, the Mavin signee triumphed and claimed the coveted award.

Davido celebrated his night with two awards, earning recognition as the ‘Best Male’ artist and for his exceptional collaborations. On the other hand, Burna Boy was honored with the Album of the Year award for his project titled ‘Love Damini.’
