Two persons died in an accident on Saturday at the PZ Junction on the Benin-Sapele-Warri Expressway in Benin, the Edo State capital.
The mishap involved a drink-laden Toyota bus and a Ford truck.
The accident was caused by excessive speeding by the bus driver.
Angry youths, who besieged the accident scene, set ablaze the truck loaded with drinks.
The accident caused gridlock for many hours on the strategic road, forcing motorists to opt for alternative routes in the area.
Edo Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Henry Benamaisia, urged motorists to stop excessive speeding, dangerous driving, indiscriminate parking and other forms of traffic violations.
He advised motorists to always imbibe safe driving practices and be disciplined, while using the state’s roads.
Edo sector commander condemned the setting ablaze of the truck, while warning members of the public against taking the laws into their own hands.
