Tragedy: One chance robbers kill Greatness Olorunfemi in Abuja

Ms. Greatness Olorunfemi, a prominent community developer and a member of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) Network, fell victim to a heinous act perpetrated by the dreaded ‘One Chance’ syndicate in Abuja. The horrifying event unfolded on September 26th when Greatness was violently thrown from a moving vehicle along the Maitama-Kubwa arterial highway, Vanguard reports.

The tragedy has shone a harsh light on the escalating insecurity plaguing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), prompting an urgent call to action from the YALI Network Abuja. They have implored the FCT Minister, Chief Nyesom Wike, and pertinent security agencies to prioritize the safety of Abuja residents. Additionally, they are urging for a comprehensive investigation into Greatness’ murder and a swift prosecution of those responsible.

However, the sorrowful incident is compounded by distressing allegations of neglect by healthcare professionals. Shocking audio evidence from a witness reveals that the Maitama General Hospital staff purportedly callously turned away those seeking urgent medical attention for Ms. Greatness.

Moyosoluwa Oladayo, the YALI Network Abuja coordinator, emphasized the urgency of the situation and stressed the need for a transparent investigation. The case has captured the attention of the FCT Commissioner of Police, who has assumed control of the investigation and summoned the medical personnel on duty for questioning.

YALI Network Abuja is now actively collaborating with the Nigerian Police to probe the Maitama General Hospital for potential violations of the National Health Act of 2014, which unequivocally prohibits the refusal of emergency medical treatment for any reason.

In response to this deeply distressing incident, Oladayo emphasized the need for transparency in the investigative process. She stated, “Our friend and colleague was abandoned in her time of need. This is not just about seeking justice for Greatness, but also for other Nigerians who have lost their lives in such unfortunate circumstances.”
