Transfer: Arsenal move to sign Victor Osimhen in 2024

Arsenal have reportedly initiated discussions with Victor Osimhen, the Super Eagles forward currently playing for Napoli, with hopes of securing his transfer to the Emirates in 2024.

According to an exclusive report from FootballTransfers, initial conversations took place last week concerning the potential signing of the 24-year-old.

“We are informed that Arsenal sporting director Edu Gaspar contacted the owner of the Serie A club, Aurelio De Laurentiis, to ask about the availability of the player, having been given encouragement by the 24-year-old’s agent, Roberto Calenda.” the report said.

The Gunners’ interest in Osimhen was sparked by their desire to strengthen their squad after narrowly missing out on the EPL title to Manchester City last season, despite leading the league standings for a significant portion of the campaign.

The report further indicates that Osimhen is disinclined to extend his existing contract with Napoli, which is set to conclude in 2025.

Osimhen played a pivotal role in Napoli’s triumphant Serie A campaign last season, contributing to their first title victory in 33 years. His remarkable feat of netting 26 goals in 32 appearances earned him the Serie A golden boot.

Osimhen marked his 100th professional goal of his career by scoring the opening goal in Napoli’s 2-0 win over Sassuolo on Sunday.
