Everton Football Club is ramping up their efforts to sign Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho, who is eager to part ways with Leicester City after their relegation from the Premier League last season.
With just one year left on his contract, Leicester City is open to selling the Nigerian striker, who has not shown interest in extending his stay at the club. This leaves them in a precarious position, risking losing Iheanacho for free next summer if they don’t capitalize on his transfer now.
Reports indicate that Everton is now prioritizing the signing of Iheanacho as their primary target, after failing to secure any of their alternative options. The club is keen to bolster their attacking options and sees the Nigerian forward as an ideal addition to their squad.
Iheanacho made his move to Leicester City from Manchester City in 2017 and has since been a key player for the Foxes. With 30 Premier League goals and 21 assists to his name, he played a crucial role in helping the club achieve consecutive top-five finishes in the league. Additionally, his contributions were instrumental in Leicester City’s historic FA Cup triumph in 2021.
