Transfer: Victor Osimhen in shock move to Chelsea, Mike reacts

Former midfielder John Obi Mikel hinted at Napoli star Victor Osimhen’s desire to join Chelsea ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old Nigerian striker is widely expected to depart from Napoli at the season’s end, having recently stated to the press that he has ‘already decided’ on his next move. Osimhen signed a new contract with Napoli in December, which reportedly includes a release clause in the range of €120-130 million.

Osimhen has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League this summer, with Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United among the long list of potential suitors.

Speaking at the Web Summit Qatar via Calciomercato.com, Mikel first discussed the links between Osimhen and Chelsea.

“I believe there is genuine interest from both sides. I am convinced that Victor wants to join Chelsea; undoubtedly, he aims to follow in my footsteps and those of other Nigerian players who have played for Chelsea, such as Victor Moses, Celestine Babayaro…”

Mikel then addressed the other clubs interested in securing Osimhen’s signature this summer.

“Certainly, he has attracted the attention of many clubs, including PSG and Manchester United. However, I am doing my part by sending him messages, trying to ensure that there is only one club on his mind: the Blues!”
