Hon. Philip Agbese, the Member for Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency and Deputy Spokesman of the House of Representatives, has expressed his renewed commitment to serving his constituents following the verdicts of the National Assembly Elections Petition Tribunal.
The tribunal affirmed his victory in the elections, and Hon. Agbese’s response reflects a call for unity and cooperation among the people of his constituency.
In his statement, Hon. Agbese praised the diligence, thoroughness, and professionalism of the justices involved in the tribunal’s proceedings. He emphasized that these verdicts not only strengthened democracy but also tested the integrity of the nation’s electoral process.
Addressing the disappointment of the opposition, he called for a spirit of unity and urged everyone to move forward, setting aside divisive rhetoric and animosity. He invoked Abraham Lincoln’s words, emphasizing that despite differences, they are not enemies but friends with a shared responsibility to their constituency.
Recognizing the challenges facing their constituency, Hon. Agbese stressed the importance of coming together for the common good, promising that united efforts would address the issues facing the community. He also quoted a biblical passage, highlighting that now is the time to heal their land.
The Member for Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency dedicated his victory to several individuals and groups, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, Deputy Speaker Rt Hon. Benjamin Kalu, Pastor Jerry Eze, and the NSPPD family. He also thanked his family, supporters, party members, and constituents for their unwavering support.
Hon. Agbese concluded by acknowledging the hard work of his legal team and the Attorney General of Benue State, Barrister Fidelis Mnyim, expressing confidence that their efforts would not be in vain.
