Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 93 Battalion, under Operation SAFE HAVEN, successfully thwarted a bandit attack on Chanchanji community in Takum LGA, Taraba State.
According to security expert Zagazola Makama, the attack, occurring around 10:30 am on November 13, 2024, was reportedly a retaliation by bandits after the recent arrest of 12 suspects in the area.
On November 9, the Nigerian Army had detained 12 suspected kidnappers in Chanchanji, recovering 14 motorcycles, a pistol, and two bags of Indian hemp.
During the latest operation, troops engaged the attackers, forcing them to retreat. One bandit was neutralized, and troops seized an AK-47 rifle, two magazines, twelve rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, and a Motorola radio.
