Two Australia’s players to miss Super Falcons clash due to concussions

Australia’s Mary Fowler and Aivi Luik will miss the upcoming Group B encounter against Nigeria at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup due to mild concussions sustained in training.

The co-hosts are set to face the Super Falcons at the Brisbane Stadium on Thursday.

According to an official statement from the Australia Football Federation, both Mary Fowler, a forward, and Aivi Luik, a defender, suffered mild concussions in separate incidents during Tuesday’s training session. As a result, they will be unavailable for the crucial match against Nigeria.

In their previous game, Mary Fowler played for 85 minutes in Australia’s 1-0 victory against Republic of Ireland, while Aivi Luik was an unused substitute. Their absence will be a significant blow to the Matildas as they aim to secure a positive result against Nigeria.
