At least two people were killed after suspected bandits attacked villages in Dutsinma Local Government Area of Katsina State on Sunday night.

The attack targeted Babangida and Madugu villages, but military troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA, working alongside police and local patrol teams, engaged the attackers in a gun battle, forcing them to abort a planned assault on Sabon Garin Safana village.

The victims, identified as Shamsu Sani, 25, of Makera, and Abdurrashed Rabe, 25, of Tashar Mangwaro, were rushed to the General Hospital in Dutsinma, where they were pronounced dead.

Security forces are continuing efforts to track and apprehend the fleeing bandits.
