On Tuesday night, gunmen attacked the Isiala-Mbano Local Government Area headquarters in Imo State, resulting to the deaths of two vigilante members who were on duty.
Sources reported that the assailants arrived at the secretariat around 8:30 PM, opening fire indiscriminately and killing the two security guards.
They also set several vehicles parked at the council headquarters on fire and damaged parts of the building.
An eyewitness described the scene, saying, “Two security guards at the Isiala-Mbano council headquarters were shot dead. The attackers also torched a significant portion of the council building and numerous vehicles. Many people were injured, and the local residents have fled to nearby villages out of fear.”
Henry Okoye, spokesperson for the state police command, confirmed the incident and stated, “We have deployed tactical teams to locate and arrest those responsible for this violent crime.”
