Two teenagers kidnapped from Benue rescued in Lagos
Two abducted teenagers from Benue State, identified as Precious (16) and Agera (15), were rescued in Lagos by operatives of the Lagos State Police Command.
The arrests of Tewase Peter and Ternugwa Paul were made in connection with the abduction, as announced by SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, on Monday.
According to Hundeyin, preliminary investigations unveiled that the victims were taken from their residence in Benue State while their mother was away in the market.
The ordeal came to light when the mother, unable to reach her older daughter via phone, received a call from a Good Samaritan who revealed that the suspects, Peter and his accomplice Paul, had spirited away the girls with intentions to transport them to Ghana for forced labor.
Acting swiftly upon this information, detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department raided Peter’s location at Ita Oluwo, Ikorodu, and successfully rescued the victims.
Hundeyin assured the public that investigations are ongoing to apprehend any other individuals involved in the crime.
He confirmed that the suspects will face legal proceedings once the investigation concludes.
