The U.S. Embassy in Abuja has announced a job opening for the position of General Service Assistant within its General Services Office. The recruitment is part of the Embassy’s efforts to enhance its service support operations.

Job Summary:
The General Service Assistant will oversee various portfolios related to customer service and travel. This role involves providing support to the General Services Office (GSO) customers, including Local Employees (LE) and American direct-hires and their families assigned to Abuja. The position reports directly to the Supervisory General Services Officer (SGSO).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist two entry-level Assistant General Services Officers in delivering service support.
  • Manage customer service and travel-related tasks.
  • Provide support to Embassy staff and their families.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Psychology, Law, Business Management, Communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in logistics, procurement, project management, or administrative/business management, with six months of supervisory experience.
  • Detailed knowledge of Department of State regulations, including Federal Acquisition Regulations, Department of State Acquisition Regulations, and Federal Travel Regulations.
  • Understanding of U.S. Government organizational structure and embassy procedures.
  • Familiarity with host country business practices and local administrative offices.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write clear documents and deliver presentations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and GSO-related software.
