U.S. to begin canceling flights friday as govt shutdown persists
U.S. officials announced Wednesday that flight capacity will be reduced by 10 percent starting Friday across 40 major air traffic regions, as the ongoing government shutdown continues to strain staffing levels.
“There will be a 10 percent reduction in capacity at 40 of our locations,” Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said at a news conference.
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Administrator Bryan Bedford confirmed that the cuts will affect “40 high-traffic market areas” nationwide.
