Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has tipped Arsenal to overcome Atletico Madrid in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League semi-final second-leg clash.

The Gunners will host the LaLiga side at the Emirates Stadium, aiming to secure a place in the final after last week’s 1-1 draw in Spain.

In the first leg, Julian Alvarez cancelled out Viktor Gyokeres’ penalty, leaving the tie finely balanced ahead of the return fixture.

Arsenal were also denied a late opportunity to take the advantage at the Wanda Metropolitano after VAR overturned a penalty decision involving Eberechi Eze.

Speaking on The Gary Neville Podcast, Carragher expressed confidence in Mikel Arteta’s side progressing.

“I think Arsenal will get through,” he said. “They’re a better team than Atletico Madrid. I don’t think Atletico are that good, if I’m being honest.”
