Arsenal star Bukayo Saka has revealed how teammate Kai Havertz inadvertently denied him his first hat-trick for the club during their 3-0 victory over Monaco in the UEFA Champions League.
Saka, who scored twice in the match at the Emirates Stadium, had a golden opportunity to seal a hat-trick in the 88th minute. However, his shot, which appeared on target, deflected off Havertz and found its way into the net, ultimately giving the German the credit for the goal.
“He got in the way of it,” Saka joked after the match, laughing. “But don’t worry, it’s [a hat trick] coming. It’s on the way.”
The Gunners are set to conclude their group-stage campaign with fixtures against Dinamo Zagreb at home and Girona away, where Saka may have another chance to secure his long-awaited hat-trick.
