UCL: Lookman credits teammates after win against Shakhtar

Ademola Lookman has praised his Atalanta teammates for their role in his standout performance against Shakhtar Donetsk.

Lookman was awarded Man of the Match after La Dea’s commanding 3-0 win over the Ukrainian side on Wednesday night.

The Nigerian international contributed a goal and an assist in the victory.

“It’s always nice to receive these awards. I wouldn’t have been able to do that without the team, and the team had a good performance today,” he told Sky Sports.

Lookman also reflected on Gian Piero Gasperini’s side victory.

“I’m very happy with the victory. I think tonight’s victory was very important for us to make another step, stronger in Europe,” he declared.

“I think, especially after our first performance against Arsenal at home, we put on a good performance, and to build up on that tonight and to score the goals and win was very important for us going ahead into the next busy schedule that we have.

“Every performance, we try to build on. Today was a good performance, so we will build on that and look forward to the next game on Saturday at home against Genoa. Every game is important, and we’re looking forward to each game because it’s great to play a lot of games.”
