UK PM Starmer, Zelenskyy, Macron, others congratulate Trump after US Election victory

Sir Keir Starmer, the UK Prime Minister, has joined world leaders in congratulating Donald Trump after the former US president declared victory in the US presidential election.

In his statement, Starmer expressed his eagerness to work with President Trump in the coming years, stating that the UK-US relationship will “continue to prosper.” He emphasized the strong bond between the two nations, highlighting shared values of freedom, democracy, and enterprise.

“As the closest of allies, we stand shoulder to shoulder in defense of our shared values,” Starmer added.

In Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also extended his congratulations, expressing optimism about the future under Trump’s leadership. Zelenskyy spoke of looking forward to “an era of a strong United States of America under President Trump’s decisive leadership,” despite concerns over US support for Ukraine amidst the ongoing Russian invasion.

Earlier this year, Zelenskyy met with Trump, where they discussed the Ukraine-US strategic partnership, a Victory Plan, and ways to end Russian aggression against Ukraine.

Other world leaders, including Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, France’s President Emmanuel Macron, and Turkey’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban, have also congratulated Trump on his electoral success.
