Unknown gunmen attack Ortom’s aide, rustle cows in Benue

A-yet-to-be identified gunmen last night attacked Principal Special Assistant to the Governor of Benue State on Government House Administration, Hon. James Anbua.

Hon. Anbua was attacked at his country home Tse-Girgi, Mbavuur, Logo local government area of Benue State.

According to an eyewitness who prefered to be anonymous, the assailants riding on 3 motorcycles arrived at the home village of Hon. Anbua at about 1:30am and started shooting sporadically.

The eyewitness told Citizen TV that the security who were on guard engaged the gunmen who later retreated and came back 30 minutes after and opened fire on the house again.

He added that so far, the residential house is destroyed completely.

Confirming the incidence to local news medium, Citizen TV, Dr. Anbua appreciated God for sparing his life and called on youths in Mbavuur and Logo local government area to surrender their arms and embrace peace as there would be no meaningful development without peace.

The source added that although no life was lost, many people who joined him to give his daughter out were injured while cows numbering about 10 belonging to the former Commissioner were rustled by the assailants.

The matter has since been reported to the Police Divisional office in Ugba, Logo local government area.
