Rt. Hon. George Alli has directed the immediate relocation of the Tomato market from the Otukpo main market, to Eupi mini market, to pave way for the ongoing construction of Otukpo township road by Rockbridge Construction campany.
The Otukpo Local Government Chairman gave the directive on Wednesday October 28th 2020, when he received the Eupi Mini Market Master, Mr. Onminyi Okoh, in his office at the Otukpo Local Government Secretariat. Alli said the Otukpo road construction is key and nothing should be spared to give the company all the comfort that is required.
According to him: “We should immediately create space to accommodate all the traders who have been affected by the ongoing road construction, especially those selling tomatoes and other perishable goods, including yam sellers at the Eupi mini market”.
“I know it will be hard for many of them and I sympathise with them, but this is a necessary sacrifice to make as everyone, including the traders, will benefit from the road construction when completed”, he further said.
The market Master assured the Chairman, the affected traders will be adequately accommodated as he directed.
The ongoing construction of Otukpo township road by Rock bridge Construction Company have affected many buildings; both public and private as well as economic trees which are close to the road.
