Uproar as kidnappers take over Ogbadibo communities

Men of the underworld have taken over some communities in Ogbadibo LGA of Benue State.

IDOMA VOICE gathered that the kidnappers, who are believed to be Fulani herdsmen, have been wreaking havoc in the once peaceful community.

In Orokam, suspected Fulani herdsmen have killed a councilor-elect, Hon. Paul Ojile in Orokam 3 Ogbadibo LG of Benue State.

IDOMA VOICE gathered that the victim was until his murder waiting for inauguration next month.

Residents said the Otukpa-Orokam road in no longer safe as kidnappers usually station along the axis to swoop on unsuspecting citizens and travellers.

Similarly, the Ugbokolo-Okpoga-Owukpa road is another den of kidnappers.

Few days ago, unknown gunmen kidnapped a couple, Engr. Raymond and Dr. (Mrs.) Cordelia Agada.

IDOMA VOICE reported that the couple were abducted at Ikomija along the Owukpa-Okpoga road on their way from Itabono Owukpa.
They were freed a few days after payment of ransom.

Also, a Reverend father’s servant was kidnapped in Aho, a community in Owukpa, Ogbadibo LGA of Benue State by the invaders.

Just few days ago, the owner of Oyanu hotel, Mr. Uji was nearly kidnapped by the men from hell.

Reacting to the ugly trend, Hon. Obute Paul Onoja. Councilor rep. Orokam 3 and Deputy leader Ogbadibo legislative council said their people could no longer sleep with their two eyes closed.

Another resident of the community, identified as Popular, was kidnapped by the herdsmen and was rescued by the vigilante group. 

He said, “Last night 16/6/22 Fulanis came into one of my communities Enumadu in Orokam ward 3 and kidnapped one Mr Ameh Raphael but the vigilantee personnels and the youths in the community immediately went after them in the forest to rescue the kidnapped victim and in the process my successor Hon Paul Ojile a councilor elect to represent Orokam 3 in the 8th assembly of Ogbadibo who was among those the youths in Forest was ambushed by the Fulanis from their hideout and killed him and his brother as the youth groups themselves to cover the entire forest.

“Their bodies were recovered this afternoon 17/6/22 from the bush.

“The kidnapped victim was rescued and two of the Fulanis captured.

We are in dire need of the intervention of the state government as the lives and prosperities of my people in Orokam district and Ogbadibo at large are seriously at stake.”

Meanwhile, the Benue State police command has warned criminal elements in Benue state and by extension, Idomaland to steer clear as the command is determined to flush out all elements involved in criminal activities in the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr Tajudeen Abass told AfriPost that his men have been mobilized to hotbeds in Idomaland in order to bring to end the issue of kidnapping for ransom and other related activities.
