The United States Mission in Nigeria has condemned the killing of Reverend Father Sylvester Okechukwu in Kaduna State, calling for justice.

Okechukwu, the pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church in Tachira, Kaura Local Government Area, was kidnapped on Tuesday and later found dead. The Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan confirmed his death on Wednesday.

In a statement on its X account, the US mission expressed deep distress over the incident, describing it as a brutal and senseless act of violence. It extended condolences to Okechukwu’s family, congregation, and community, acknowledging their immeasurable loss.

The mission urged Nigerian authorities to ensure those responsible are held accountable, emphasizing the need for justice.
