Utange PDP stakeholders reaffirm loyalty to Ortom, PDP

Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Utange, Ushongo Local Government Area of Benue State Friday reaffirmed their loyalty to Governor Samuel Ortom and the party.

The stakeholders from the five kindreds of Utange came up with the resolution at Akeior, Utange, after extensive deliberations on recent political developments in the area, which has also seen the recent resignation of the Principal Special Assistant to the Governor on Culture and Tourism, Tahav Agerzua, from the Ortom administration.

They stated that they remained committed members of the PDP and were not ready to withdraw their support for the Ortom administration or membership of the party.

Former Deputy Marjority Leader of Ushongo Legislative council, Hon. Justine Kwavmom, former Supervisory Councilor in Ushongo Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Shimakor, Elder Simon Iorpuu, in their separate remarks restated their commitment to the Ortom administration and vowed to abide by all party decisions.

Elder Annum Ipo said the people of Utange will continue to support the Ortom administration for making it possible for Utange to produce the Chairman of the local government for first time in the history of Ushongo.

He mentioned the construction of a Primary Health Care Center, school projects executed by Governor Ortom in the area as well as the ongoing construction of the Ikov – Utange – Mbagwaza – Lessel road as some of the reasons for their unflinching support for Governor Ortom.

Like Oliver twist, he asked for more projects and appointments,especially now that one of the two appointees in the area has resigned his appointment.

Also speaking, former Deputy Caretaker Chairman of Ushongo, Hon. Terseer Geri while reaffirming the loyalty and commitment of the people to the Ortom administration asked the leadership of the party in the area to fix a date for the decamping of APC members in the community who, as some have expressed their intention to join the party.

Others who spoke includes, Elder Atim Ate, Elder Terkaa Ayankaa, Hon. Terdoo Gber,Elder Ayough Tyav all pledged their loyalty to the Ortom administration and said they were ready to work for the party’s candidates in the 2023 election.

Earlier, the Chairman of Ushongo Local Government, Joseph Asawa and the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Benue State on Media, David Mzer in their opening and welcome remarks pledged their loyalty to Governor Ortom and stated their resolve to work for the victory of the party.

Highlight of the meeting was presentation of quality wrappers to 50 widows across the five kindreds of Utange community in order to boost PDP activities in the area.
