Enraged villagers in Obi local government yesterday attacked their neighbours in Igese village, Ojenyo ward of Ado local government area, both of Benue State following the killing and beheading of their son.
Recall that the victim was beheaded on Monday morning by one Raphael Agashe, an Ojenyo man who was apprehended by security agents with Iji’s head in a polythene bag.
The caretaker chairman of Ado local government council, Paul Udenyi speaking on the incident, regretted the loss of property worth millions of Naira and displacement of hundreds of villagers.
Udenyi said a meeting has been scheduled between the two communities who share boundaries with each other with the Special Adviser to Governor Samuel Ortom on security, Col. Edwin Jande (rtd) after which further decisions on the crisis will be unveiled.
The Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Otukpo Area Police Command, Samuel Drakoji who confirmed the incident on phone said he has drafted his men to the scene of the incident to forestall further breakdown of law and order.
